Dilapidated early 1900’s villa brought back to life
We were engaged by the owners to transform this very tired villa. It was a major renovation in Herne Bay, and we had the pleasure of working alongside Hoxha Bailey Architects and Celine Vernezy Interior Design.
The scope was to transform this building into a family home with all the modern amenities. The original four bedroom villa was in good condition although untouched and unmaintained for many decades.
The villa was reconstructed on new timber piles and brought up to latest building code while still retaining the historic character. All of the new materials were manufactured to match the existing profiles creating a seamless transtion between old and new. It was completely stripped with all existing timber windows and doors being replaced with new double glazed timer joinery.
To compliment the villa, a modern extension was added to create a new living space that incorporated a timber deck with Louvretec roof. This included a new living area, kitchen, scullery, a secondary entrance, garaging and a separate guest wing.
A second story pop up was added to the villa to create a separate and private master wing. Outside works included a new swimming pool, a covered alfresco area, and decks to the northern aspect.
The result is a home that retains all or the character of the old villa with modern additions that are sympathetic to the existing building.
