Multi-Unit Housing
This Orakei town house development was designed by Megan Edwards Architects. The rear house is a three storey dwelling designed as a home for the owners, with the ground floor being a separate dwelling for extended family members. The front town house was developed and sold as a separate townhouse.
This was a complex build with a variety of finishes on the exterior; Abodo vertical cladding, cedar weatherboards, insitu concrete and variable tray coloursteel roofing and cladding. The interior was highly detailed with oiled and varnished timbers and plywood being used throughout. Megan Edwards selected all fittings and finishes with an emphasis on natural timber.
The quality of the design and build was recognised by the New Zealand Institute of Architects and given a multi-unit housing award. Megan Edwards takes her inspiration from the 1970’s style of architecture.
