Classic late 1800s historic home transformation
Stephen Jones was engaged to complete the design for this grand old three-storey brick beauty in Parnell which we commenced works on in 2014.
The owners wanted to preserve the home’s colonial past for future generations. The full renovation included seismic upgrades to the existing brick structure.
Logistically, the 210sqm house’s tight site meant the renovation was challenging, with a three storey concrete portal forming the main structural upgrade.
New wooden stairs and balustrades form the spine of the three-bedroom, two-bathroom house, winding up its three flights. Stunning brickwork has been left exposed in some of the rooms including the modernised master bathroom with ornate clawfoot bath.
The light-filled kitchen has been upgraded with views across the courtyard and garden, and beyond to the reserve.
All verandahs were restored with bespoke lace and fretwork.
The finished home is testament to the Shore Build team and our sub-contractors that helped complete this project.
This house was awarded Gold in the 2017 Registered Master Builders House of the Year category Renovation over $1,000,000.
It also received the Gold Reserve award in the same category in the National 2017 House of the Year awards.
